Transitional Programs

Programs for individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness into a more stable environment.

About the Programs

HomeBASE and Secure Jobs are two programs for individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness into a more stable environment. To apply for both of these programs, you must go through your local Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). Click here to find a DTA location near you.

HomeBASE

HomeBASE is a program for those currently in the emergency shelter assistance system. HomeBASE can provide funds for individuals or families moving into a new home.

HomeBASE can provide funds for:

  • First and last month’s rent
  • Security deposits
  • Furniture
  • A monthly stipend to help pay rent for up to one year
  • Utilities
  • Travel costs
  • Other expenses that would otherwise prevent a family from accessing a new home.

The amount and type of assistance is based on a family’s needs, which will be determined through an assessment. Participants have a dedicated counselor who provides resources and referrals for education, workforce development, childcare, and more.

Secure Jobs

Gainful employment is critical to a family’s ability to maintain housing stability. The Secure Jobs program helps people achieve the long term objective of self-sufficiency and permanent housing.

This initiative provides job readiness skills training, eliminates barriers to employment and connects families with suitable employers in jobs with defined career paths. The program provides job training, job search services and a year of stabilization services for participants.

In addition to providing clients with personalized employment services, our Secure Jobs staff works with the client to remove barriers to success by linking participants with childcare resources, transportation to and from training programs, helping navigate options for people who have challenges with CORIs, and providing skills training, job readiness training, and job search services.
