About Our Housing Workshops

RCAP Solutions’ Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC) offers many workshops and trainings which are designed to support and educate tenants, landlords, potential homebuyers, and homeowners. Our curriculum covers topics such as purchasing and maintaining a home, managing your finances, and best practices for landlords and tenants. We offer both in-person and online classes.

Courses Offered

• First-Time Homebuyer Certification Classes: Earn your First-Time Homebuyer Certificate as required by HUD and CHAPA funding and other lenders for some low-interest, low down-payment mortgage products. Topics covered include credit worthiness, down payment savings, and knowledge about the steps in the process.

 

• HomeSafe Post-Purchase Classes (for Homeowners): The challenges of homeownership do not end after the closing. By attending this workshop you will sharpen your knowledge and become equipped with the necessary skills to maintain your home and finances. This course will successfully fufill the Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP)’s ONE Mortgage Program requirements for post-purchase education.

 

• Financial Capability Workshops: Our housing counselors can assist you in developing a budget that is built on your current financial picture and help you work towards your financial goals. We can demonstrate how credit can assist you in reaching your financial dreams. We offer group classes and one-on-one counseling.

 

• Tenant Rights & Responsibilities: Learn from our professional housing counselors on how the law protects you as a tenant, different types of tenancies, safe housing code and repair, what options available if you are facing eviction, and how to deal with foreclosure proceedings.

 

• Landlord Training – How to Be a Good Landlord: In this comprehensive training you will gain a deeper knowledge of what owning and operating a rental property entails. This training and certification also satisfies the requirements that many lenders require for multi-family home loans and down payment assistance programs.

RCAP Solutions is certified with The Massachusetts Homeownership Collaborative Seal of Approval which recognizes Massachusetts homebuyer counseling agencies that meet or exceed a minimum standard in providing effective pre-purchase, group homebuyer counseling, and education to low and moderate income first-time homebuyers. The Massachusetts Homeownership Collaborative is an initiative managed by the Citizens’ Housing & Planning Association (CHAPA), who supports and promotes homebuyer education.
